Our Story...

Jim and Kathy Cafarelli opened the first Rustic Kitchen in Boston’s Historic Faneuil Hall Marketplace in 2001. It quickly became recognized for the unique atmosphere and their blend of fresh, local cuisine and signature handmade pasta.

In 2005, Rustic Kitchen expanded into the South Shore and opened a second restaurant in Hingham, Massachusetts. Jim & Kathy moved the Boston restaurant to a larger space in Park Square and by 2006 they had developed a unique broadcast television kitchen studio as well. As co-executive producers, they oversee production of a weekly Friday night show called “The Cooking Show” hosted by Liz Bramwell. The highly entertaining live cooking show is presented to twenty-two audience members while they dine on featured entrée items, enjoy wine pairings and learn how to cook the meal themselves.

The third Rustic Kitchen opened in 2008 at Mohegan Sun @ Pocono Downs in Wilkes-Barre, PA and a second cooking show was launched there as well. Their state-of-the-art broadcast studio entertains an audience of forty and has become a coveted ticket in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Executive Chef Michael Kelly’s award winning cuisine is always seasonally inspired and locally fresh at every Rustic Kitchen each day. Their commitment to excellence has earned them many local industry awards including Boston Magazines “Best New Restaurant” and Sante’ Magazines National Award as “Best New England Bistro”.

Recently, Rustic Kitchen has expanded globally, opening a fourth location in Mexico City in 2010. To date, Jim & Kathy have also produced over 500 live cooking shows. The studios have become a much desired venue for sales & marketing meetings, team building and functions of all sorts. Panasonic & Color Kinetics even showcase these studios in their company’s national advertisements.
